SUMMARY:Poetics of the Event Event
UID:642064@northwestern.edu
TZID:America/Chicago
DESCRIPTION:See the full schedule and register for the entire day or individual sessions using the link HERE. What is the event of literature? From poetry readings to roundtables\, book launches to broadsides\, the literary arts have always been invested in bringing the page to the public. However\, as much as literature itself has been\, and continues to be\, a site of experimentation and transformation\, the structures of the events that are designed to hold them ("the poetry reading\," "the panel\," "the roundtable") have remained remarkably unchanged. How do we bring community interests and response back into the centerfold of the literary arts? Poetics of the Event Event will invite publishers and printers\, writers and scholars\, artists and community organizers to consider how we might approach the literary event itself as imaginatively as we do the books\, poems\, novels\, and pamphlets that these events are meant to celebrate. Special guests include: Kay Gabriel\, Joss Barton\, Daniel Borzutzky\, Noa Michaela Fields\, Kai Ihns\, Stefania Gomez\, and more. You won't want to miss the Fashion Show Poetry Event at 5:00pm! This event is co-sponsored by the Kaplan Humanities Institute Public Humanities Practicum and The Workshop in Trans Studies. Questions? Contact Smith at syarberry@u.northwestern.edu.
