SUMMARY:Bridging Sonic Borders: Story Telling from the Dominicanyork Borderlands
UID:642592@northwestern.edu
TZID:America/Chicago
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an engaging talk with Sharina Maíllo-Pozo\, Associate Professor\, Department of Romance Languages\, Unviersity of Georgia. This talk pays homage to the life and the trajectory of Dominican-American writer and performance artist Josefina Báez.  Analysis draws on Gloria Anzaldúas reflections on women of color as knowledge producers.  This keynote lecture also highlight how the bidge between sound and literature produces alternative forms of knowledge that challenge essentialist definitions of dominicanidad\, latinidad\, and US-Americanness. FOOD AND REFRESHMENTS WILL BE SERVED!\n\nMore Info: https://latinostudies.northwestern.edu/
