DESCRIPTION:The Music of Thelonious Monk and Bud Powell   Darius Hampton and Joe Clark\, conductors   Pianist and composer Thelonious Monk had a lasting impact on the jazz world through his unique improvisational style\, utilizing dissonance and angular melodies\, with a percussive touch to his playing. His composition “’Round Midnight” is widely recognized as the most frequently recorded jazz standard composed by a single artist. A protégé of Thelonious Monk\, pianist and composer Bud Powell\, he was a key contributor to the development of bebop.
