The Center for Interdisciplinary Exploration & Research in Astrophysics (CIERA) is looking carefully at many aspects of our center and taking responsibility for improving our social awareness, which we are confident will bring greater equity and inclusion across all CIERA activities and initiatives.

We are learning, sharing, organizing, and acting, and everyone is involved: all 70+ students, faculty, researchers, and staff that make up CIERA. We engage in weekly social justice meetings to help improve our awareness of racism and racist systems by learning together and connecting issues back to CIERA, the STEM fields, and academia.

Topics vary by week. These meetings are only open to members of CIERA and take place over Zoom. Meetings officially conclude after one hour, but conversation may continue until ~4:45pm.

As part of our ongoing social justice initiative, CIERA is offering Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training sessions for our members, provided by Movement Consulting. Sessions are 2 hours long and cover a variety of topics.
