Students will be introduced to the basic principles of constructing functional vessels using the wheel and understanding the tactile nature of clay as an art medium. This course will teach students the process of wheel throwing through learning how to wedge clay, how to construct cylinders on the wheel, and using colorants through glazing techniques.
The kinesthetic process of pottery will be explored through developing technical skills on the wheel as well as understanding the function of various forms developed throughout the history of ceramics. Learn how to make functional work that you can use at home as
food ware for yourself, friends, or family.
