The Luce Scholars Program is a nationally competitive fellowship program that provides stipends, language training, and individualized professional placement in Asia on the basis of the applicant’s professional interest, background, and qualifications for 15-18 Luce Scholars each year.
Luce Scholars have backgrounds in virtually every field other than Asian studies, including, but not limited to, the arts, journalism, law, medicine, science, public health, environmental studies, and international relations. Eligibility Criteria
Seniors, graduate students, professionals school students and alum who have had limited exposure to Asia are welcome to apply. Northwestern students and alum must apply through Northwestern.
Candidates must:
** Be U.S. Citizens.
** By July 1 of the year they enter the program, have received at least a bachelor’s degree AND be under 30 years of age.
**Have a record of high achievement, outstanding leadership ability, and clearly defined interests with evidence of potential for professional accomplishments.
Application Submission
One hard copy of the following documents must be submitted to the Northwestern University Office of Fellowships on or before the application deadline:
** one hard-copy application form, available here: http://www.hluce.org/lsapp.aspx
** four signed letters of recommendation, each in a sealed envelope signed across the back flap OR sent electronically to fellowships@northwestern.edu as attached pdfs
**official academic transcripts (undergraduate and graduate, if applicable)
** two passport-sized color photos
