Tom McGlew, of the University of Edinburgh, will be available at Norris on October 22nd from 7:00 - 8:00PM to discuss opportunities for graduate study in Great Britain. He will explain: how the current structures of graduate work in Britain have evolved in recent years; how 'taught' and research-focused masters degree programmes differ; what British universities look for in American applicants; how long it takes to complete a degree; how much graduate study costs in Britain; what possibilities exist for financial aid; and how to choose the program that is right for you.
In addition, he will discuss graduate study specifically at the University of Edinburgh, which is currently ranked among the top twenty universities in the world, and answer questions both about Edinburgh and the British system generally.
Tom is an American who has made his academic career in Britain. Until recently he was Associate Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Chair of the Sociology Department at the University of Edinburgh.
