More than Making the Grade: Mentoring Student Writing Before and After the Deadline

Tuesday, February 13, 2018 | 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM CT
627 Dartmouth Place, Searle Library , Evanston, IL 60208 map it

Assessing and responding to undergraduate writing is one of the central tasks of post-graduate instruction, especially in the humanities and social sciences - but all too often students perceive this feedback as secondary to their grade. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to provide effective, targeted feedback that points your students toward further improvement - and how to head off your students’ most common writing mistakes before they get on paper. You will leave with strategies for responding to student writing throughout the writing process, including an introduction to rubrics, in-class writing activities, and written feedback.
