CTI-TPMRI Seminar: "High Performance MRI without a Contrast Injection for Breast Cancer Imaging" with Dr. Catherine Judith Moran

Tuesday, January 14, 2020 | 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM CT

Please join us for this seminar. This talk focuses on the development of MRI acquisitions for breast cancer screening that do not require a contrast injection, and the translation of these methods into the clinical setting.  Steady-state acquisitions provide an alternative means to acquire images with endogenous T2- and Diffusion-Weighted contrast while Non-Cartesian sampling strategies increase efficiency, achieve isotropic sub-millimeter resolution, and provide robustness to motion. The consistent image quality of steady-state methods provides specific advantages for acquisitions to be utilized in screening regimens over multiple years. Development of these methods and initial results in breast cancer patients are described along with concurrent investigations of commercially available non-contrast-enhanced acquisitions. The presentation of these novel methods will be framed by perspective on the incorporation of non-contrast-enhanced MRI into breast cancer screening protocols.
