In this keynote lunch, Lauren M. Pacheco, Co-Creative Director at Chicago Humanities, will join Dr. Jessica Winegar, Director of the Kaplan Humanities Institute, for a dialogue on creative futures for the Public Humanities. Creativity and a willingness to forge new models for humanities programming feels increasingly essential in a moment when the humanities as both a field of study and a set of values and practices are under threat. This conversation will explore how Pacheco’s background as curator, civic practice artist, community organizer, and third-generation Mexican American all contribute to her own creative vision for Chicago Humanities, and for the future of the Public Humanities more broadly.
Lunch will be served at 12:00 pm, with remarks beginning at 12:30 pm. Please RSVP at the link in the "Register" box so we can order the right amount of food!
