Join us for a Buffett Book Talk featuring Cameroonian journalist and author Haman Mana in conversation with Louise Kiernan, Professor and Director of Strategic Initiatives at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications.
His new autobiographical book, J'aime l' odeur de l'encre sur le Papier, au petit matin ("I like the smell of ink on the paper, early in the morning"), recounts his 35 years of experience as a journalist, editor and publisher in Cameroon amid the country’s slide toward authoritarian rule, from which he was forced to flee following the paper’s investigation of corruption and influence peddling by a powerful media mogul. During the talk, Mana will explore the major moments and themes of the book and reflect on the future of the media in Cameroon.
The talk is co-sponsored by Northwestern University's Medill School. Light refreshments will be served. Please note that while the book is in French, the talk will be in English.
