Rebeca Grynspan, Ibero-American Secretary General

Rebeca Grynspan is a Costa Rican economist and the Ibero-American secretary general. Grynspan was formerly a UN under-secretary-general, and the associate administrator of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). She also previously served as the director of the UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean and was a member of the UN Millennium Project’s Task Force on Poverty and Economic Development. From 1994 to 1998 Grynspan was the Vice President of Costa Rica. Ms. Grynspan has been a strong and consistent advocate for human development. She has helped focus global attention on the need to reduce inequality, build social cohesion, empower women, and achieve the Millennium Development Goals.
