Whether installing and managing Python packages, running Python or R scripts, interacting with databases, using version control systems like git, running machine learning models in the cloud, or using Quest (Northwestern’s high performance supercomputer), being comfortable with the command line will open up new computational possibilities. Data scientists and researchers alike will work more efficiently with command line skills in their toolkit.
