Description:

A geographic information system (GIS) is a framework for gathering, managing, and analyzing data. It is based in the science of geography and integrates many types of data. It analyzes spatial location and organizes layers of information into visualizations using maps. ​With this unique capability, GIS can help you gain insights into patterns and relationships in your data that you may miss using other statistical programs. If you’ve never used GIS before, or you are looking for a review of the basics, this is a great place to start.
