Text analysis is the use of computational algorithms on unstructured text. It is used in the humanities and social sciences to extract interesting data from historical resources, such as books, newspapers, plays, or poetry. The HTRC (HathiTrust Research Center) enables beginner-to-advanced text analysis on the HathiTrust Digital Library collection, an online library of over 17 million digitized items. This workshop will focus on the more advanced algorithms in the HTRC: the Extracted Features download and the Topic Model Explorer. It is recommended (but not required) you take Introduction to Text Analysis with the HathiTrust Research Center prior to attending this workshop.
This workshop is intended for Northwestern University students, staff, and faculty. This workshop will be led by Jamie Carlstone, Authority Metadata Librarian at Northwestern University.
