Please join the Comparative Politics Workshop as they host Sara Kayyali, political science Ph.D. candidate at Northwestern University, for a presentation titled "Everyday Repression: Tactics for Muzzling Dissent in Jordan".

Sara Kayyali is pursuing a doctorate in political science at Northwestern University. Her research interests are in state-society relations during major transitions such as revolutions, economic crises and conflicts, and the role of foreign influence in those relations. She was previously the senior Syria and Jordan researcher in the Middle East and North Africa Division of Human Rights Watch, and worked with civil society at the Open Society Foundations. Kayyali holds a Juris Doctor from Columbia University and an LLB from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She is fluent in Arabic and English.
