Join the ombuds team for interactive workshop designed for graduate students to strengthen their communication skills as mentors and mentees. This session will provide essential strategies to build effective and positive mentoring relationships with faculty, peer mentoring among cohort members, and with students learning from you in classes and labs. The program will cover techniques for clear and constructive communication, active listening, setting and understanding expectations, and providing feedback that fosters relationships.
Sarah Klaper (University Ombudsperson) and Kamaria Porter (Associate Ombudsperson) bring a range of experiences with mentoring and communication, frequently working with faculty and students on effective communication.
