"The Return of Confucianism in Contemporary China”

The revival of Confucianism in contemporary China has many dimensions. In this lecture Anna Sun focuses on the political, the ethical, and the ritual revival of Confucianism in everyday practice, based on extensive field research in Confucius temples as well as interviews in urban China. The conclusions drawn from this research bear witness to the resilience of Confucianism as a structuring power in the cultural, political, ethical, and religious imagination of Chinese society today.
