European nations are divided over how to address the growing number of people entering in search of safety and a better life. While some states have closed their borders again and even erected fences, Germany has previously demonstrated “Willkommenskultur” (“culture of welcome”). Germany is now re-thinking its approach to the “crisis” and calling for a unified European solution to the issue. Some EU-members have already made clear they are not willing to accept any refugees and are instead calling for increased efforts to address the root causes of the problem.
Join Prof. Thomas Weiler (University of Bonn), for a discussion of both the German and broader European response.
