DIEGO SOARES DA SILVEIRA is a professor at the Institute of Social Sciences of the Federal University of Uberlândia. Between the years 2007-2012, Diego worked as an adviser in issues of human rights and traditional knowledge in Brazilian federal government institutions, as the Genetic Heritage Management Council (CGEN) and the Special Secretariat for Human Rights of the Presidency of the Republic. He has also conducted ethnography and field research with South American Indians, riverside communities and biologists that work in the area of biodiversity and traditional knowledge.
