Native American Urban Mental Health Panel

The majority of Native Americans live in urban areas and are one of the most medically underserved communities. Panelists include Dr. Jessica Ryan (Choctaw), Behavioral Health Director of American Indian Health Services in Chicago and Dr. Amy West (Southern Cheyenne), Director of psychology training at UIC College of Medicine.

Dr. Amy West has worked with the Native American community in Chicago to develop community-based, culturally-competent mental health services for youth and families. Dr. Jessica Ryan works in one of the few urban Indian Health Services programs in the country developing culturally appropriate forms of healing for Native people.
