Join the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Program and the Department of Spanish and Portuguese as our very own Jack Martinez and Walthier Mariadiegue (Dept. of Spanish and Portuguese) present their latest research projects. Light refreshments will be provided.
Jack Martinez Arias will explore how Peruvian lettered production that emerged at the beginning of the twentieth century reacted to mineral wealth exploitation and promoted a socialist utopia in the Andes.
Walther Maradiegue looks at the tecno-visual construction of Indigeneity in the Andes. He will propose analytical insights on the incorporation of visual discourses into broader discussions on the formation of racialized subaltern groups.
