Seminar courses offer a unique opportunity for undergraduate learning. However, they also pose distinct challenges for course and classroom design. This workshop expands the pedagogical toolkit to include strategies specific to seminar-style classes. We will explore some potential challenges for the seminar classroom and posit strategies to design successful assessments to address these challenges. The workshop will focus specifically on in-class assessments along with assessments like midterm and final exams and longer research papers. The primary goal is to provide strategies to make conventional assessments successful in creating a beneficial learning environment for all students.
