Viewing Japanese Woodblock Prints: from the Floating World to the Present Day

In this lecture, woodblock print collector and dealer Elias Martin will survey the history of the art form, from its origins in 17th century “Prints of the Floating World” (ukiyo-e) to modern and postmodern experiments, explain the techniques and technologies of woodblock printing, and offer insider insight into connoisseurship and collecting. Following the lecture, the audience will be invited to view rare, museumquality prints up close.
