Creative Writing Lecture: The History of the Essay

I grew up in Ohio. I have a BA in English from Northwestern University and a PhD in English and American Literature from Brown University. I’ve taught in the MFA in Nonfiction Writing program at the University of Iowa and am now a professor in the Writing Program at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where I teach classes on Narrative Design, the Essay, and Prose Style.
