Description:

The Global Humanities Initiative welcomes Ulrike Stark, Professor of South Asian Languages and Civilizations at the University of Chicago and Jason Grunebaum, Senior Lecturer in South Asian Languages and Civilizations at the University of Chicago. Both accomplished scholars and translators, they have most recently published the English translation of Indian author Manzoor Ahtesham's Hindi-language novel, The Tale of the Missing Man (Northwestern University Press, 2018) which won the Global Humanities Translation Prize. Stark and Grunebaum will be in conversation with Laura Brueck (ALC) about their new book, and translation as humanistic inquiry.
