Description:

The Department of Ophthalmology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is offering a phacoemulsification-training course for residents on Friday evening, August 9, 2019 and all day Saturday, August 10, 2019. As we have done in previous years, our intent is to offer a high quality didactic and wet lab course. Our Keynote Speaker on Saturday will be Dr. Jeff Pettey, a complex cataract surgery and complex anterior segment surgery specialist from the University of Utah.

The Friday evening session is for first years and will begin around 5:30PM. The program will last until 8:30PM/9:00PM. The Saturday program is for all resident years and will start at 8:00AM. It will end around 3:00PM for first years and around 4-4:30PM for second and third years.

The curriculum of this phacoemulsification training course is tailored to the needs of residents of all three years of residency training. A unique feature of our course is access to phaco machines as well as IOLs from all three major manufacturers. There is no fee for participation in this course.
