Guest speaker Ellen Damschen, PhD, from University of Wisconsin Madison will present a seminar, "How global change impacts and conservation solutions affect plant communities " to the PBC community.
Human-induced global changes such as habitat loss and fragmentation, global climate change, and altered disturbance regimes, are threatening global biodiversity. It is imperative to not only understand the impact of these changes on community diversity but also evaluating which solutions can successfully prevent or recover lost diversity. This talk will use large- and long-term datasets from grassland and savanna ecosystems to reveal how these global change factors and conservation and restoration solutions affect community diversity and dynamics.
