Asian American Studies invites you to an on-campus screening of The Silence, an award-winning documentary by Soo Nam Park.
The Silence
In May 1994, 15 grandmothers who were subjugated as “comfort women” under the Imperial Japanese Army during WWII, left for Japan to demand an apology and reparations from its government, and acknowledgement of its past war crimes.
Though most have passed away, Ms. Ok-sun Lee makes her testimony from half a century ago, sharing the message of survivors of sexual slavery and their decades’ long struggle.
All are welcome.
The screening is sponsored by AASP and WCAS Course Enhancement Grants.
