Singer, composer, and performance artist Dorian Wood stages their elegant queering of Janet Jackson’s 1989 Rhythm Nation 1814 for one night only, performing the 1989 album in sequence with arrangements for voice and piano. “I was 14 when this album came out,” say Dorian, “No other music at the time sounded like it. I knew every lyric and every dance move, and Janet’s messages of social justice and reluctant sensuality helped shape my adolescence.”
