Title: Tales of Innate Immune Suppression by Emerging RNA Viruses
Speaker:
Curt M. Horvath, PhD, Professor, Depts. of Medicine and Microbiology-Immunology
Host:
Laimonis Laimins, PhD, Professor and Chair, Department of Microbiology-Immunology
Topic:
Detection of virus infections by pathogen recognition receptors triggers an antiviral gene expression program that creates a broadly-effective barrier for virus replication. In response, viruses have evolved diverse mechanisms to evade or antagonize antiviral signaling. Mechanisms of virus evasion and ongoing studies will be discussed.
