Seminar Title:
Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplant and Graft-versus Host Disease: Biological Insights from Preclinical and Clinical Studies
Speaker:
Assistant Professor at University of Illinois Chicago
Adjunct Assistant Professor at Northwestern University
Topic:
Graft-versus Host Disease (GVHD) is one of the most common causes of morbidity and mortality after allogeneic stem cell transplants. The standard clinical treatments for GVHD are nonspecific immunosuppressive agents. These standard immunosuppressants have limited efficacy and carry a high risk for infection and toxicity. Our research has established a particle-based therapeutic which has demonstrated efficacy and safety in a murine GVHD model.
