Please join the Russian, Eurasian, and East European Studies (REEES) Research Program for a talk given by Thomas Melia.
Thomas Melia is a Senior Foreign Policy Advisor to Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD). He was previously Assistant Administrator of USAID for Eastern Europe, and before that Deputy Assistant Secretary in the State Department's Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, again covering Eastern Europe. Melia previously served as Executive Director of Democracy International, an organization that designs, implements, and evaluates democracy and governance programs around the world. He also served as the Deputy Executive Director of Freedom House, the centrist bipartisan human rights organization launched in 1941 by Eleanor Roosevelt and others.
