On October 18, 1971, in the minutes of the Board of Trustees of Northwestern University, the Chancellor reported the “Establishment of The Department of Afro-American Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences.” All during the 2021-2022 Academic Year, the Department has been celebrating 50 years of scholarship, teaching, and service. Our celebration culminates on Friday, May 20, 2022, with the hybrid event “AFAM @ 50: Extending Our Reach.”
May 20th will serve as a day of celebrating our accomplishments and building community both on and off campus. Please use this link for more information: AFAM @ 50: Extending Our Reach
