Abstract: Climate change is becoming an ever more urgent challenge, with rising carbon dioxide levels, increasing global temperatures, rising sea levels, and the increasing frequency of heat waves, floods, severe storms, drought and wildfires. Decarbonizing the electricity grid by 2035 and the entire economy by 2050 are now national goals. Energy storage plays a prominent role in achieving these goals. The status and outlook for energy storage in achieving these ambitious decarbonization goals will be outlined.
