After two years of celebrating virtually, Lurie Cancer Center and Northwestern Medicine will welcome cancer survivors and supporters back to Grant Park on Sunday, June 5, 2022 for the 29th Annual Cancer Survivors’ Celebration Walk and 5K!
Held on National Cancer Survivors Day, the event is a one-of-kind opportunity for people who have faced or are facing cancer to connect as a community and celebrate milestones with the families, friends, physicians, scientists, and care providers who support them every step of the way.
The celebration is open to everyone whose life has been touched by cancer, regardless of where they were treated. Highlights include a non-competitive walk or chip-timed 5K race along Chicago’s lakefront, T-shirts, music and entertainment, inspiring speakers, activities for the family, and an opportunity to share a message on the Dedication Wall.
Watch this video to see why we can’t wait to walk, run and celebrate with you!
Advance registration is available online until Friday, June 3 at 12:00 p.m. The Cancer Survivors’ Celebration begins in Grant Park’s Arvey Field at 8:30 a.m. The 5K Run starts at 9:15 a.m. and the Walk begins at 10 a.m., rain or shine. Space is limited for the 5K race and advance online registration is required for chip-timed runners.
Participants who register before May 6 will receive their T-shirts by mail before the event. Participants who register after May 6 will be able to pick up their T-shirts in Grant Park on the day of the event.
Advances in cancer prevention and treatment – based on life-changing research – give us all more reasons to celebrate. Participants are invited to create a personalized, online fundraising page to support Lurie Cancer Center’s innovative research and survivorship programs when they register. Fundraising is optional and no minimum donation is required.
