Throughout the academic year, the Center for Latinx Digital Media invites you to a series of weekly seminars held over Zoom on Thursdays. You can now register (click here) to the upcoming seminar of the Spring 2022 quarter, happening on May 12, at 12-1 PM US CT.
Ana Cristina Suzina (Loughborough University London) will give a presentation entitled “The Kawsac Sacha and a circular approach to communication.”
Abstract: This lecture will be the first systematization of thoughts coming from a field work research in the community of Sarayaku, Ecuador, in April 2022. It will explore The Kawsak Sacha Declaration as the expression of a struggle around the definition of social meanings, where a set of popular communication strategies transforms political imagination into political voice.
Ana Cristina Suzina is a Leverhulme Early Career Researcher in the Institute for Media and Creative Industries at Loughborough University London, working with traditional communities in Brazil and Ecuador to analyse political imagination and political voice. Her research interests include grassroots communication, social change, participation and power asymmetries, particularly focused on Latin America.
This event is co-sponsored by the Alice Kaplan Institute for the Humanities, the Buffett Institute for Global Affairs, the Center for Global Culture and Communication, the Department of Communication Studies, the Department of Radio/Television/Film, and the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Program.
