Bio:
Dr. Falvey is a physical therapist and clinician-scientist with expertise using Medicare claims and national survey data to evaluate functional recovery, aging in place, and healthcare utilization among older adults recovering from acute hospitalization. His current work focuses on economic disparities in patient-centered outcomes, such as disability and aging in place, among older adults recovering from hospitalization. He is the second ever physical therapist to be funded by a Paul B. Beeson Emerging Leaders Career Development Award (K76) from the National Institute on Aging. His research on economic and social disparities in health outcomes among older adults has recently been published in high impact journals including JAMA Internal Medicine and his clinical and research expertise has been featured in news outlets such as the Washington Post, CNN News, and US News and World Reports. Dr. Falvey is also board-certified as a geriatric physical therapist, and still treats patients in a specialty Balance and Mobility Clinic in the Baltimore Veterans Administration Hospital.
