Topic:
The goal of our studies is to reveal the molecular mechanisms whereby KSHV establishes lifelong infection in humans. Understanding the key factors that determine whether KSHV establishes latency of lytic cycle after infection can help the development of novel therapeutic interventions to block persistent infection of the host by KSHV and the development of KSHV-associated diseases. I will discuss some of our findings regarding the canonical and non-canonical roles of polycomb proteins in KSHV infection.
Host: Eva Gotwein, PhD, Associate Professor, Dept. of Microbiology-Immunology
