Title: Modulation of Innate Immunity by RNA Viruses
Speaker: Ana Fernandez-Sesma, PhD, Professor Department of Microbiology and Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases. Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. New York, NY
Topic:
In my seminar I will discuss strategies used by RNA viruses to evade innate immune responses in human primary cells and tissues. I will also discuss our work as part of a human immunology project consortium aimed at understanding the innate immune signatures induced by viruses after infection or vaccination in humans. Using dengue virus (DENV) as an example, our work impacts other fields by providing new strategies and for vaccine design and antiviral treatments.
