Title :
Overcoming Multi-Drug Resistance Bacterial Infections Through Immunometabolic Control
Speaker: Tania Wong, PhD, Postdoctoral Fellow, Department of Pediatrics Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University
New York, NY
Topic:
Infection with multidrug-resistant bacteria is a major human health threat, especially given the failure of last-resort antimicrobials. This study shows that multidrug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae promotes an immune response permissive of infection through changes in host metabolism. My research program aims to lay the foundation for the development of host-directed metabolic strategies to boost immune clearance of multidrug-resistant bacteria.
