Description:

Please save the date for Wednesday, February 15 at 5:00pm for an information session on Sophomore Entry to MMSS hosted by Professor Jeff Ely, Director of the Program in Mathematical Methods in the Social Sciences (MMSS).

We are looking for first year students with superior academic records and an interest in combining the study of math and the social sciences to enter the program as sophomores in the Fall of 2023. Each year, the program admits up to 30 students to enter the program as sophomores.

Why MMSS?

·     Students in the program develop quantitative skills that they apply to social sciences like economics, political science, sociology, psychology, anthropology and history.

·     MMSS students are well prepared for graduate school, and they are highly sought by employers.

·     The program provides excellent preparation for the Kellogg Certificate Program in Financial Economics and Managerial Analytics.

First years will complete an application for Sophomore Entry to MMSS by April 1, 2023 in the Spring Quarter of your First-Year at Northwestern. Note a letter of recommendation from an NU faculty member, and your Fall and Winter Quarter transcripts (unofficial) will be submitted as part of your application so we do not recommend submitting your application until the end of Winter Quarter.

For more information: Go to the MMSS web site to the Sophomore Admission to MMSS, along with an FAQ page.

If you have any questions, please email Nicole Schneider at mmss@northwestern.edu.
