Abstract:
Are you an R user who has thought “Maybe I should learn Python.”? Are you wondering if it’s worth your time or wondering why your colleagues are using it? Colby Witherup Wood, Lead Data Scientist with Northwestern IT Research Computing Services will discuss the differences between these two valuable research tools and highlight particular uses where Python shines. She will present research projects she and her teammates have completed using Python, and answer questions you might have about using Python for your own research. Finally, Colby will point you to her recommended resources for learning Python, depending on how you like to learn and how much Python you need to know.
