Ben Hyatt has been awarded an NSF-GRFP fellowship to pursue his doctoral studies with Prof. Daniel Lecoanet in the Department of Engineering Science and Applied Mathematics. The work he aims to pursue for this PhD thesis is in numerical analysis where he will seek a more robust understanding of time-stepping stability in spectral methods, especially in the solution of convection-diffusion problems arising in the simulation of astrophysical and geophysical fluid flows.
