Chabraja Center for Historical Studies and author of Losing Istanbul Arab-Ottoman Imperialists and the End of Empire, Dr. Mostafa Minawi for a book talk on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 from 12:30 PM- 2:00 PM CDT in Harris Hall, Room 108.

Mostafa Minawi is Associate Professor of History and the director of Critical Ottoman and Post-Ottoman Studies initiative at Cornell University. His first book, The Ottoman Scramble for Africa: Empire and Diplomacy in the Sahara and the Hijaz was published by Stanford University Press in 2016 and was translated into Turkish and Arabic. The talk will be based on his latest book titled Losing Istanbul: Arab-Ottoman Imperialists and the End of Empire came out in 2022 with Stanford University Press is currently being translated to Turkish.
