Title:

Biogenesis, Cargo and Functions of Extracellular Vesicles Released by HSV Infected Cells

Speaker:

Maria Kalamvoki, PhD, Associate Professor,  Dept, Microbiology, Molecular Genetics and Immunology, University of Kansas Medical Center

Topic:

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are released by all types of cells, and they facilitate intercellular communication. Viruses, including HSV hijack EV biogenesis pathways and alter the cargo of EVs to shape the microenvironment of infection. These findings have implication in virus persistence in the host and viral pathogenesis.

Host:  Pablo Penaloza-MacMaster, PhD, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Microbiology-Immunology
