This presentation is an inspiring exploration into the personal and professional journey of a remarkable individual who is not only a descendant of the last documented ship of enslaved West Africans to illegally arrive on American soil but also served as a compassionate nurse and somebody who is deeply dedicated to the health of her community. In this engaging presentation, we will delve into her lineage, life experiences, and the transformative path to healthcare.
Veda Robbins has been a Registered Nurse in Alabama since 1996. Most of her nursing career was spent as a staff nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at University of South Alabama Children’s and Women’s Hospital in Mobile, Alabama. She currently works as a Community Organizer in Africatown, the community founded by 32 of the Clotilda survivors. Working in the community, she constantly has her eye on the health needs of the community while working on Restorative Economics.
