Enhanced weathering is rapidly developing as a means of carbon dioxide removal. This process may be able to provide gigaton-scale permanent carbon dioxide removal at a reasonable price with clear benefits to the agricultural sector. However, there are still major gaps in our knowledge and the commercialization of this process has been controversial and at times obviously flawed. The talk will focus on what enhanced weathering is, what are the upsides, and what needs to happen to prevent repeating the same mistakes made in the traditional voluntary carbon marketplace with a different negative emissions technology.
