Description:

In this presentation, Steve Young will take the audience on a deep dive into the hidden world of corporate musical theater created for dealers and salesmen. Steve, the leading collector and historian of the amazing showbiz genre the public wasn’t supposed to see, screens an array of astonishing vintage industrial musical film clips, with his behind the scenes stories and observations on American history and business culture as seen through this unique lens. The Weird and Wonderful World of Industrial Musicals is hilarious, occasionally profound and even touching, and might just inspire you to go out and sell, sell, sell!

Steve Young is a comedy writer known for his work with David Letterman, Matt Groening, and Lorne Michaels. Steve has received multiple Emmy and WGA nominations, as well as an Annie Award for his animation writing. Steve’s book about the secret world of corporate musicals was optioned by Amblin and also inspired Focus Features’ critically-acclaimed documentary, BATHTUBS OVER BROADWAY, which Steve stars in. Two comedy shorts that Steve wrote and acted in, PHOTO OP and BRIEF SURVEY, helmed by BATHTUBS OVER BROADWAY director Dava Whisenant, have won numerous Best Comedy and Audience Awards on the international festival circuit. Steve is currently developing a live musical revue of industrial show-tune fan favorites as well as preparing to release an album of his own music.
