Description:

DevSci is excited to announce that we are hosting a part two to our panel on career paths outside of academia titled Non-Academic Career Pathways! Please join us on Monday, March 11th from 4:00-5:00pm CDT virtually at this zoom link and share this event with any interested colleagues! Please RSVP to the event here.

In this part two, panelists will share more specifics on their experiences, career pathways, and answer questions we did not have time for in the last event. It is not required that you attended the first event!

We have a fantastic group of panelists lined up:

Dr. Bayley J Taple is a licensed clinical psychologist and is the Director of Clinical Product at BehaVR, Inc. — a digital therapeutics startup developing behavioral health interventions in virtual reality to reduce fear and pain on a global scale. Dr. Taple aims to expand access to evidence-based care, through the power of technology and human-centered design, particularly for people historically and economically excluded from traditional mental health services. Her research comprises clinical trials of psychosocial assessment and intervention within urology, OBGYN, and other medical contexts; the influence of trauma on health; and digital health tools and technology-enabled health services. Dr. Taple received her PhD in clinical psychology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, completed her residency in health psychology at Rush University Medical Center, and completed a NRSA T32 postdoctoral fellowship in digital mental health at Northwestern’s Center for Behavioral Intervention Technologies (CBITs).

Dr. Emily Hittner (she/her) is an emotion and relationship researcher. As the VP of Research @Hinge, Emily is passionate about using mixed-method user experience (UX) research approaches to make dating easier, more compassionate, and authentic for all. Emily earned her PhD in Human Development & Social Policy and MS in Statistics from Northwestern University.

Dr. Ian Kahrilas earned his PhD in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University Chicago in 2022. After graduating, he joined Teladoc Health as a Data Scientist. In his current role, he supports the provision of high quality healthcare at scale by leveraging his interests in programming and statistics.

Dr. Ian Kwok graduated from Northwestern University's clinical psychology PhD program this year. He is currently completing a postdoctoral fellowship at Headspace. His past and current work is centered around designing and evaluating mental health technologies, and empathic conversational AI design.

Dr. Nikita Salovich is a Mixed-Method UX Researcher at Meta based in Seattle. She spends her day to day analyzing survey data and traveling around the globe to learn how to improve the onboarding experience of Meta’s VR devices (most recently supporting the launch of the Meta Quest 3!). She graduated with her PhD in Cognitive Psychology from David Rapp’s lab in 2022, and did an internship with Meta (then Facebook) in 2021.
